RhizoLoc OA - Arthritis Thumb Brace
Effective carpometacarpal arthritis relief. Carpometacarpal arthritis, or basal joint arthritis, is the result of cartilage wear between bones at the base of the thumb. Symptoms of CMC arthritis include severe pain, swelling and decreased range of motion, which can make everyday tasks such as driving and cooking more difficult. The RhizoLoc OA relieves pain by immobilizing the thumb to relieve stress on the basal joint. It also provides relief from excessive strain following surgery or recurring joint misalignments. Supports the thumb while allowing gripping movement. With its low-profile design and flexible two-component material, the RhizoLoc OA enhances support for the carpometacarpal joint while allowing a natural gripping and wrist motion. Its flexible material and reinforced midsection at the crook of the thumb adapt to hand movements while securing the thumb for lasting relief and stability. Premium wearing comfort and practicality. By combining its wraparound thumb strap, airy perforations and practical closure system, the RhizoLoc OA CMC arthritis brace delivers a high level of wearing comfort and practicality during everyday tasks. It’s easy to put on and remove with one hand and can be used when fully immersed in water. Airy perforations enhance breathability, while the adjustable strap provides a perfect fit.

How do wrist/hand braces help treat wrist and hand injuries?

Bauerfeind’s wrist/hand braces, supports and straps provide stability, gentle massage and medical-grade compression to help support and heal the wrist/hand from injury. The German-engineered technology of Bauerfeind braces maximizes proprioceptive feedback and the body’s natural regenerative systems to protect the wrist/hand and speed recovery.

Bauerfeind wrist/hand braces and straps are eligible for reimbursement through most FSA (Flexible Spending Account), HSA (Healthcare Savings Account) and HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement) plans. Please consult your specific plan administrator for more details.

Because you should wear your wrist/hand brace and straps directly against your skin, it will inevitably come into contact with the sweat and grime from your body. For this reason, choosing a washable wrist brace is crucial for lasting durability. All Bauerfeind wrist/hand braces and straps are machine washable and easy to care for. We recommend washing Bauerfeind braces/straps regularly by following our product care guide to maintain the shape and compression of the knitted fabric.

For products with Velcro straps, pads or inserts, remove them if possible, or fasten them securely at the place provided on the brace. Machine wash your brace in cold water using the gentle or delicate cycle. Wash separately using a laundry detergent with no additives (do not use fabric softener or Woolite). Lay your support flat and let it air-dry; do not put it in the dryer. Proper washing and drying helps your knit support maintain its elasticity and original fit. For more information, visit our product care guide.

Wrist/hand braces and straps from Bauerfeind are also sometimes known as “active supports“ – i.e. they make it easier for those who wear them to move around. It’s actually this movement that enables the support to have a positive effect on the body and the healing process. The massage function and the intermittent compression cannot be activated when you’re immobile, however. It’s better if you wear the wrist/hand support during the day when you’re active and then let your wrist/hand relax at night.
