FSA and HSA Eligible Products

In the United States, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are savings accounts that allow you to contribute pre-tax wages to cover qualifying medical expenses that you would otherwise pay for out of pocket. Bauerfeind’s medical line of braces, supports and compression products are eligible for purchase through most qualifying FSA and HSA accounts. For more details, please check with your employer or plan administrator.

Detailed three-step process for using your FSA/HSA to purchase Bauerfeind products involves signing up for an FSA/HSA through your employer, purchasing a qualifying product at Bauerfeind.us, and reporting the purchase for reimbursement.

Step 1: Sign up through your employer during your open enrollment period and start contributing to your FSA or HSA accounts.

Step 2: Purchase a qualifying medical brace, support or compression product on Bauerfeind.com using your HSA or FSA card. Remember to keep all your receipts!

Step 3: Report your yearly HSA contributions and distributions on IRS form 8889. FSA contributions/distributions do not need IRS reporting, but you may need to provide receipts to your employer. Contact your plan administrator for more details.

What is an HSA or FSA?

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are health benefit accounts that allow you to contribute pre-tax wages to cover qualifying medical expenses that you would otherwise pay for out of pocket. HSA eligibility is limited to those enrolled in a high-deductible health insurance plan. FSAs may be provided through your employee regardless of your health insurance plan. For more details, please check with your employer or plan administrator.

If your FSA or HSA card is branded with Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, you may use it as a payment option on Bauerfeind.com. If not, you may be able to purchase your Bauerfeind item with another credit card and submit receipts through your plan administrator. For more details, contact your employer.

Bauerfeind’s medical line products are eligible for most FSA and HSA accounts. These items are listed above. Be sure to check with your plan administrator for confirmation of eligibility.

Yes, all eligible items can be purchased with an FSA or an HSA card.

FSA: For 2021, employees can contribute up to $2,750 per year to their FSA account. Remember that these funds usually expire at the end of the plan’s year and you will lose any contributions you haven’t used.

HSA:For 2021, employees can contribute up to $3,600 if they have self-only coverage and $7,200 if they have family coverage. If the employee is 55 years old or older, they can contribute an additional $1,000 to their plan.

If you’ve already made a qualifying purchase with Bauerfeind.com and need a copy of your receipt to submit to your FSA or HSA plan, please contact the Bauerfeind Customer Service Team at 1-800-423-3405. You will need your order # or any additional information that can help us find your order.

Contact your plan administrator or employer for more information on what items are eligible and how to provide appropriate documentation for reimbursement.

No, Dependent Care FSA accounts are different from Health Care FSA accounts and Bauerfeind products are not eligible for reimbursement through a Dependent Care FSA..

Generally, funds placed in an FSA account can be used for eligible expenses incurred during a one-year period, and unspent amounts are forfeited. Contact your FSA plan administrator or employer for more information. Make sure you know when your plan deadline is to ensure you purchase eligible items in advance of your plan deadline.

Unlike FSAs, HSAs do not have set expiration dates and contributions to HSAs can be rolled over into subsequent years. Contact your plan administrator for more information.

Yes. A refund will be issued to the original FSA/HSA card. For more information, contact our returns department.
